Colorado Day at Center for Colorado Women’s History

August 3, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm MDT

Ring in Colorado’s 148th birthday on Saturday, August 3rd from 10am – 4pm with a free celebration at the Center for Colorado Women’s History! Athena Project has helped to curate a live musical performance by local artists Janeen Bogue and Friends which will begin at 1pm. More activities include tables showcasing vendors and artists, craft stations, and vintage games on the lawn and gardens around the museum. This family-friendly event is a great way to enjoy summer in the Centennial State.

While there, you can check out the art installation called UndergARTments Revealed as part of the Museum’s annual exhibit, Rumors of Bloomers.

This event is free, and open to the public during the museum’s public hours from 10am – 4pm. For more information, please visit the Center for Colorado Women’s History website here.

Meet Janeen Bogue and Friends!

Emily BeckTina Dozauer (guitar, vocals)

Trained classically at the Oberlin Conservatory and fell in love with bluegrass after 20 years in Colorado. In addition to playing at Colorado Day she also currently performs with The Crones. When she’s not playing bluegrass or gardening Tina teaches general music at Fireside Elementary School in Louisville.
Emily BeckEmily Halbrooks (violin, guitar, vocals)

Has over two decades of violin performance experience, and has crafted a unique and captivating sound of her very own. A multi-genre artist, Emily draws inspiration from her classical roots as well as her love for americana, country, bluegrass, and folk music. Her passion for music stems from her violin making schooling, and she actively restores instruments in her daily life. Emily lives in Lafayette with her spouse Kevin, who she met at violin school. They enjoy hiking and camping with their dog Eevee, and building violins together.

Emily BeckJaneen Bogue (upright bass, dobro, vocals)

Has been holding down the low end for nearly 15 years both at various bluegrass jams and with several different bands up and down the front range. She is in the all-female trio Back to the Mountain, and was previously a member of Goatz!, a Colorado country and Americana band. She enjoys playing bluegrass, country, folk and Americana, and plays both traditional and modern forms of these and other genres.
