Meet Our Artists

Soldevila Music Project

Gora Gora Orkestar

Gora Gora Orkestar brings the sounds of the Old World to the Rocky Mountains performing high-energy Balkan and Klezmer music. Formed in 2009, this 11-piece brass band is dedicated to making the audience dance with driving rhythms and innovative approaches to the traditional music of Eastern Europe. Since its formation, Gora Gora has focused on learning this music with attention and authenticity, and its members have had the chance to learn from experts in the field at events such as Balkan Camp and KlezKanada.

Nomvula Munnie

Nomvula Munnie is an indigenous creative who is a storyteller. She uses music, dance and theatre to create spaces of cultural and music cohesion. All the way from South Africa she has toured the US as part of an ensemble 29:11 International Exchange from 2021 to 2023. Her passion is artist development, and she works with youths who are part of her 4 piece and 7 piece ensemble.

These artists are coming from horrific backgrounds but choose to use music as healing and connecting instruments to amplify human kindness, Ubuntu. Her music is afrofusion with traces of the African and global sounds that influenced soul, acoustic and electronic music.

Taiko with Toni

Thrill to the thunderous sounds of the taiko (Japanese drum). Toni Yagami brings an exciting “Matsuri” (Japanese festival) to your stage.

The festival sound of Japan– from traditional songs to contemporary compositions; folktales to cultural facts; lullabies to American traditional jazz and swing; folksongs to classical music pieces – her “Matsuri” performance entertains and educates. In traditional costume, using taiko drums, various hand percussion, bamboo flutes and occasionally the koto (Japanese harp), Toni and her troupe delight audiences all over Denver and Colorado.

They perform for concert and festival stages, school assemblies, dinner parties, conferences and conventions, lecture demonstrations (“lec-dems”) and workshops.

Toni Yagami shares her Japanese – American heritage as well as her knowledge of Japan’s culture and music.
