Read and Rant (2/15)

Read & Rant is Athena Project’s book club exploring plays written primarily by women. We read one or two scripts or ancillary materials during the month and meet every third Thứ hai online via Zoom, to discuss the works. Learn what makes a good script, discuss how it affects us, and explore the ways it links to the larger world. Converse with invited guests who bring an in-depth knowledge base. This monthly free offering to the community aims to raise awareness of the under-representation of women’s stories on stage.

Tháng hai/Valentine’s Day is upon us, and our love for learning about playwriting has never been stronger! Expanding on last month’s brief digression from genre to style and tone, Tháng hai 15th we will explore a multitude of ways in which writers use tools to textually articulate tone in their plays. From font size to split-page formats, playwrights have long broken away from the traditional “way to write a play.” Join us as we Read & Rant about plays that play with their words on the page. We are thrilled to be diving into BLOOD/SWEAT/TEARS by Ali Keller to focus our discussion around the different tools used by the writers to express tone. And we welcome back Lynde Rosario as our co-facilitator this session.
