Our Girls Stand Up features seasoned mentors and teaching artists providing a fun space for girls and non-binary youth to exercise their creative energies through creating comedy sets to boost self-confidence and playfulness. The campers will perform their comedy sets at the end of the week.

Time: 9am-3pm MST, Mon-Fri plus additional mentoring time as needed
Cost: starts at $275 (includes guest artist fees)

Cancellations: All camps are subject to a 4-participant minimum. If the minimum is not reached 2 weeks prior to the start date of the session, the camp will be canceled and any registration fees will be refunded.

Refunds: With the exception of the camp being canceled due to low registration, all registration fees are final.

Referral Rebate: A $50 rebate is available for referrals. To qualify, both participants must register through the Athena Project website and complete the entire camp. Both participants qualify for the rebate ($50 each), and multiple referrals are allowed, up to but not to exceed the total cost of the camp ($275 value). To redeem, both parties must email info@athenaprojectarts.org by the end of business day the first day of camp with the name of the participant, the referral’s name and the name of the camp attending. Qualifying rebates will be issued within 30 days of camp completion. Athena Project has final say on rebate qualifications and totals.

JANAE BURRIS

JANAE BURRIS

Janae Burris is a comedian, actor and event host as well as former cohost of The Denver Post’s Cannabist Show. She is a South Los Angeles native and a California Institute of the Arts alumna. Janae has worked with Local Theater Company, Colorado Shakespeare Fest, The Denver Center for Performing Arts and recently closed a starring role in Queens Girl in The World  at Aurora Fox Theater. She’s opened for  Michael Che, Roy Wood Jr., Beth Stelling and Josh Blue to name a few. Janae has performed at Just For Laughs Montreal, Portland’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival, High Plains Comedy Festival and has headlined at Aspen Laugh Fest. She is a Comedy Works “Pro”, the first black woman promoted to the highly respected list, and was crowned Comedy Works New Faces Champ in 2016. Janae was chosen to receive a grant through Spotify’s Sound Up Podcast Bootcamp and is currently developing her podcast Dead Daddy Issues. Janae is also a proud camp counselor for Athena Project where she teaches stand up comedy to teenage girls.
