Free
Montbello Live!

Join Athena Project for a family-friendly event in collaboration with Montbello Organizing Committee and their event, Montbello Alive! 2021. Using a digital billboard art truck and following a live DJ on the back of a pick up truck, we’re joining forces to create a “Soul Train” to travel throughout the streets of Montbello. We’re inviting people to come out of their homes and dance to a jam. We’ll also be highlighting visual artwork on the sides of the truck, created by local Montbello artists.

The Soul Train and Digital Art Truck will travel from 2-6pm. Then starting at 6:50pm, Athena Project will curate women* led performances on a stage located near Montbello High School (exact address coming!). Thus far you can join us to see Big Mama Thornton Project, Baile Caliente, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Platinum Divaz Dance Troupe, spoken word artists Kylee Wellons, and comedian Shanel Hughes. This continuation of our artBURSTS Series is still FREE pop-up performances for audiences to experience the joy a burst of art brings.

Our participation in this event will be the following:  Saturday, September 18, 2021 digital billboard truck from 2-6pm and stage performances from 6:50-7:50pm.

This is the latest series of events highlighting women artists in our Curating Art for Impact program, which produces impactful and unique art with community partners like Montbello Organizing Committee. Along with MOC’s mission to galvanize Montbello residents and provide them with the tools and resources necessary to develop leadership skills for issues affecting the community’s quality of life, we contribute our support in uplifting women artists.
