#ArtFindsUs Mobile Performing and Visual Arts come to Santa Fe Arts District

Denver, CO, July 2, 2020  –  This summer dance, music and visual arts takes to the streets of metro Denver.  K Contemporary Gallery and Athena Project have partnered to bring visual and performing artists to the city’s eleven districts. The third Thursday of each month between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. a mobile group of artists will drive through a predetermined route, pausing along the way inviting communities to experience vibrant local artists without having to leave their neighborhoods.  This work offers a safe opportunity to view work during the time of Covid-19 and is accessible from windows, yards and patios. The routes will include neighborhoods, business districts and locations where we can safely connect with frontline workers.

The routes for #ArtFindsUs along with a line-up of artists for each month will be published at www.ArtFindsUs.org.

Thursday, July 16, the mobile feast of performers will be activating spaces around the Santa Fe Arts District.  A mobile stage created by Handsome Little Devils will bring Joy Bombs featuring dancers from Samba Colorado and a spoken word artist, Tanaya Wilder.  Riding independently in pedicabs will be local musical favorites to be announced and mobile billboards will traverse the city featuring visual artworks by Melissa Furness, Suchitra Mattai, and Access Gallery.

The June event in Five Points kicked off the summer series and delighted groups at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Five Points Safeway parking lot, Denver’s Fire Station 3 and Coffee at The Point.  Local residents came to windows or waved from balconies as entertainers passed by bringing surprise and joy during Denver’s Safer at Home phase.

*At Athena Project, we believe that “women” means many things and can be a complicated term. We recognize that the term “women” does not automatically include all aspects of the gender spectrum.  We want to create a safer space for the expression and growth for all women, trans and gender-nonconforming individuals.
